Super Bowl Week Smorgasbord (2.4.25)

The NBA steals the headlines, CBB gets crazy, and the plan for the run to March Madness

On this week’s episode of THE WINDOW Podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic on X) takes on a variety of topics after the NFL pre-Super Bowl bye week, including how he spent the first Sunday without real football in a long time.

The NBA stole the show overnight on Saturday. Matt discusses the Luka Doncic trade and the reaction to it, and why it’s another example of how perception gets created outside of what’s happening on the inside between players and teams.

College basketball’s wild Saturday was overshadowed by NBA trades, but there were a quartet of games where the “information” we have about the teams couldn’t have mattered less when compared to the results of the games. It’s a great example of why we should rely on a formula to find an edge on the betting market versus just taking what we “know” at face value.

Matt looks ahead to his “how-to” article on betting college basketball and breaks down when you’ll start getting daily reports on how taking ShotQuality metrics and applying that to team efficiency ratings will give us an edge on the point spread each day.

Lastly, Matt gives an update on THE WINDOW as we finish up the football season, with a request for readers to like/restack the Super Bowl articles to see if that improves our placement in the Substack algorithm.

Plus, NINE college basketball bets for Tuesday night?!? The Madness is coming… eventually.

It’s time to head to THE WINDOW, let’s go!
