Welcome back to “The Quicks” - our high-volume, micro-betting venture in college basketball betting! If you’re new, or need a refresher, here’s our angle as we hope to turn a possible edge into profitability for the rest of the CBB season.
How good is your good?
It’s the final day of February, which means it’s time to get serious… tomorrow.
As we work towards conference tournaments - the gateway for NCAA Tournament Cinderellas - it matters whether or not you can close. Going to a neutral site and getting a lead is one thing, but closing it out is another.
Thursday night, if coffee is for closers, many a team was decidedly un-caffeinated, and it cost us, as The Quicks went a grim 11-18. Hawaii, Pepperdine joined William & Mary as three underdogs that had a halftime lead only to lose and not even cover, as summed-up by the Tribe’s cover probability chart:
Blame those results on backing the worse team if you want, but the better teams we bet on mirrored that late effort as well. Liberty (-7) and Maine (-8.5) had comfortable, double-digit leads late, only to just do enough to win by four and seven points, respectively.
Does the Flames’ cover probability chart look familiar?
If you’re going to make the big dance and be one of the many teams that Seth Davis suggests “could be a problem” for a power conference team on the CBS Selection Show, you’re going to have to exude a little more killer instinct against the teams of your ilk, since the tournaments before THE tournament is where memories are made for the vast majority of college basketball teams.
